One Torah For All

One Torah shall be to him that is home-born, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.
Exodus 12:49

The Enemy Shall Flee

Malakim Bet (2nd Kings) 7:7
Therefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.

The Arameans were at war with the city of Samaria in northern Israel. The Arameans had besieged Samaria. The people inside the city of Samaria were getting desperate as there was little food. There was famine within the city.

Malakim Bet (2nd Kings) 6:28-29 28 And the king said to her, “What ails you?” And she answered, “This woman said to me, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.’
29 So we boiled my son, and did eat him; and I said to her on the next day, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him;’ and she has hid her son.”

I don’t know about you, but it is very difficult for me to imagine a situation that is so very desperate that a woman would kill, cook, and eat her own son. I have known some women who were not very good mothers, but I don’t think I have known any who would do such a thing as this. At least I hope I have not known any such woman.

All this was happening because the people of Israel were ignoring Torah and serving other gods. They didn’t care about Torah and were simply not interested in obeying the commandments of YHWH. What typically happens when a person discards YHWH’s Torah, is that the protection it brings is also thrown out along with the commandments. When will we learn that there are serious consequences to our sin and wrong doing?

Notice what YHWH says will happen when His people turn away from His Torah commandments.

Devarim (Deuteronomy) 28:15
“But it shall come to pass, if you will not hearken to the Voice of YHWH your Elohim, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes which I command you this day, then all these curses shall come upon you, and overtake you.”

All of Israel was clearly told that if they did not obey, keep, observe, and guard the commandments of YHWH, then curses would come upon them. One of those curses is found in this next verse.

Devarim (Deuteronomy) 28:25
“YHWH will cause you to be smitten before your enemies; you shall go out one way against them, and shall flee seven ways before them; and you shall be scattered among all the kingdoms of the earth.”

In this verse we learn exactly what has happened to the northern kingdom of Israel because they did not listen to and obey the Voice of YHWH; YHWH drove them out of His land and scattered them among all the nations of the earth. YHWH did this because Israel did not fear Him and did not obey His Voice.

But notice what happens if His people do listen to and obey the Voice of YHWH.

Devarim (Deuteronomy) 28:1-2
1 “And it shall come to pass, if you shall hearken diligently to the Voice of YHWH your Elohim, to observe to do all His commandments which I command you this day, that YHWH your Elohim will set you on high above all the nations of the earth;
2 and all these blessings shall come upon you, and overtake you, if you shall hearken to the Voice of YHWH your Elohim.”

When the people of YHWH hear and obey the Voice of YHWH and guard all His commandments, then He will bless us beyond anything that we could imagine. Notice in this next verse what one of the many available blessings will be.

Devarim (Deuteronomy) 28:7
“YHWH will cause your enemies that rise up against you to be smitten before you; they shall come out against you one way, and shall flee before you seven ways.”

YHWH promises those who obey His Voice and keep and guard His commandments that He will cause our enemies to flee before us. Our enemies will not be able to stand before us. But we need to fully realize that the prerequisite of this blessing is twofold. The first thing is that His people must obey His commandments. The second thing is that His people must hear and obey His Voice. If both of these things are not happening, then the blessings of YHWH will not come. Rather, the curses of YHWH will come upon those who do not diligently listen for the sound of His Voice and obey His commandments.

YHWH has laid it out very plainly to us. It is up to us to choose what we are going to receive from His hand: either blessings or curses. And if we want those who make themselves our enemy to flee from us, then we had better get serious about hearing and obeying His Voice.

All of YHWH’s enemies shall flee from before Him. His enemies will not be able to stand in His presence. In part, this means that if we want our enemies to flee from us, then we have to ally ourselves with YHWH. We cannot expect YHWH to ally Himself with us; we need to ally ourselves with Him! Otherwise, we will not be able to stand, just as the Torah teaches us.

Romans 8:7
Because the mind of the flesh is enmity against Elohim; for it is not subject to the Torah of Elohim, neither indeed can it be.

If we are going to see our enemies flee from before us, then we must be in subjection to the Torah of Elohim by hearing and obeying His Voice. However, the mind which is set upon the flesh, that is, a mind which is set upon the things of this world, is a mind that is set against YHWH our Elohim, and such a mind cannot subject itself to the Voice of YHWH or to His Torah. The mind set on the things of this world is a mindset of lawlessness. Lawlessness is being without the Law, that is, being without the Torah, or Torahlessness.

One important aspect of this that we need to see and understand, is that because the Father and the Son are echad (one), any person who rejects one of them rejects both of them.

Yochanan (John) 15:23
“He that hates Me hates My Father also.”

Yeshua clearly states that if a person chooses to hate Him, then such a person also hates His Father, YHWH Elohim. This puts those who we refer to as anti-missionaries into a very precarious position. This is because they work directly against Yeshua as Mashiach and those who follow Him.

Yochanan Aleph (1st John) 2:23
Whosoever denies the Son, the same has not the Father; he that confesses the Son has the Father also.

One of the enemies we face today is those who deny Yeshua as Mashiach. Those who deny Yeshua as Mashiach will flee from before us if we will work at hearing and obeying His Voice and guarding His commandments.

The problem is that so many of those who are returning to YHWH and His Torah are coming out of the church system, a system which tends to dictate living by a certain set of rules and guidelines. Living Torah is not this way! If one is going to truly live Torah, then such a person must hear and obey the Voice of YHWH along with keeping His commandments. Please go back up and reread Devarim 28:1-2. In this passage we are taught that we must hear and obey His Voice if we are going to be blessed by YHWH.

The key to living a victorious life, the key to having our enemies flee from before us, the key to having ourselves allied with YHWH, is to hear and obey His Voice.

Yochanan (John) 10:27
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”

Do you hear the Voice of Mashiach Yeshua? Do you obey what you hear from Him? If you hear and obey His Voice, then your enemies will flee from before you.

If you do not hear and obey the Voice of Mashiach Yeshua, then you will flee from before your enemies.

It is your choice!

ABBA YHWH, open our ears that we may hear Your Voice clearly so that we may obey Your Voice in all things; in the name of Yeshua our Mashiach. Amein.
